Cebu Pacific Wins Double Honors at 2025 ESGBusiness Awards for Sustainability and Inclusivity

Cebu Pacific has earned international recognition after winning two major honors at the 2025 ESGBusiness Awards in Malaysia. The airline was named winner in the categories of “Sustainable Transportation” and “Diversity & Inclusion,” highlighting its commitment to responsible growth and its position as one of Asia’s most progressive companies in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

The ESGBusiness Awards is regarded as one of the region’s premier platforms, celebrating organizations that set benchmarks in corporate social responsibility, inclusivity, and sustainable development. This year’s awards gathered companies across Asia that demonstrate leadership in shaping industries while balancing profitability with positive social and environmental impact.

“As Cebu Pacific grows, we want affordable travel to also create a positive impact for people and communities. Inclusivity and sustainability remain central to how we shape the future of travel,” according to Candice Iyog, CEB Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer.

Cebu Pacific has consistently led the way in building a diverse and inclusive workplace. In 2024, it became the first airline in Southeast Asia to earn Great Place to Work® certification, a milestone achievement in employee engagement and workplace culture. The airline also broke barriers by being among the first carriers to hire openly transgender cabin crew members.

Its inclusivity initiatives extend further, with women surpassing global benchmarks in leadership roles, internship programs tailored for neurodiverse students, and expanded health and travel benefits for same-sex and common-law partners.

“Our workforce — spanning 31 nationalities, 15 employee groups, and people of all genders, faiths, and abilities — enables Cebu Pacific to adapt, grow, and deliver for our customers. This recognition belongs to our teammates who support and uplift one another. At Cebu Pacific, we don’t just move people; we move progress,” said Felix Lopez, CEB Chief Human Resources Officer.

On the sustainability front, Cebu Pacific has made significant strides by modernizing its fleet and adopting fuel-efficient practices. The airline ranked 18th among global carriers in the Cirium Flight Emissions Review 2024, achieving one of the lowest carbon intensities in the industry at 62.4 grams of CO₂ per available seat kilometer.

With one of the youngest fleets in Asia, Cebu Pacific saved nearly 50 million kilograms of fuel in 2024, translating to the avoidance of over 150,000 tonnes of carbon emissions. It also remains the only low-cost carrier in Southeast Asia to secure a sustainability-linked loan (SLL), a financing structure directly tied to its emission-reduction targets.

“Sustainability is integral to Cebu Pacific’s growth strategy. By aligning affordable travel with responsible operations, we ensure that our expansion is both competitive and future-ready,” said Aileen Isidro, Vice President for CEB Corporate Strategy and Risk Officer.

With a network covering 36 domestic and 27 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, Cebu Pacific continues to champion inclusive and sustainable travel. The airline remains committed to its mission of providing safe, affordable, and accessible flights for every Juan, while also ensuring that growth comes with responsibility to both people and the planet.
