As it celebrates 85 years of connecting the Philippines to the world, Philippine Airlines (PAL) is taking its anniversary beyond flights and into the future of aviation by investing in the next generation of Filipino talent. Through its Share the Care Award Program, the national flag carrier is supporting 85 graduating scholars from the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines (NAAP), the country’s premier professional institution for aviation education.
The initiative reflects PAL’s enduring commitment to education and nation-building, aligning its milestone anniversary with actionable support for aspiring aviation professionals. By providing both travel and career assistance, the airline aims to bridge the gap between academic achievement and industry leadership, preparing students to become future-ready leaders in the Philippine aviation sector.
Central to this effort is PAL’s recently released “Care That Goes Further” film, which honors the quiet yet impactful dedication of airline employees. The film embodies the spirit of “Filipino care in action,” highlighting how everyday acts of service define the airline’s culture. Building on this ethos, PAL is transforming its 85th year into an opportunity to uplift emerging aviation talent.
Atty. Carlos Luis Fernandez, PAL Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, emphasized the airline’s focus on nurturing future industry leaders. By providing flight grants and structured career pathways through the PAL Foundation, he noted, the program enables scholars to achieve critical milestones in their professional journeys.
The collaboration has also been praised by NAAP leadership. Engr. Jeq Zyrius Sudweste, NAAP Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted the program as a prime example of how industry-academia partnerships can create meaningful change. According to Sudweste, the Share the Care Award Program equips students with both practical experience and direct access to PAL’s network, ensuring they are prepared to enter the workforce as skilled, confident professionals.
The program is anchored on three key pillars:
- Flight Incentives – Each scholar receives a one-time award of 30,000 Mabuhay Miles to support travel for training, certification, or industry exposure.
- The Priority Pipeline – Scholars are designated as PAL Priority Candidates, giving them streamlined consideration for relevant roles within the airline.
- The Masterclass Series – Awardees gain exclusive mentorship sessions with PAL operational leaders, covering areas from flight operations to aircraft maintenance.
Through this strategic partnership with NAAP, PAL is not only commemorating 85 years of service but also investing in the people who will define the future of Philippine aviation. The initiative underscores the airline’s mission to turn celebrations of the past into enduring opportunities for growth, leadership, and excellence in the skies.
