The General Manager of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Ed Monreal is appealing to Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) raring to go back to their respective provinces not to proceed to the NAIA terminals unless they have confirmed flights.
According to the airport boss, they were overwhelmed yesterday when the LSIs came in groups. Based on their inquiry with the LSIs, their leader have told them to proceed to the NAIA Terminal 2, because there was a flight that would bring them home to various parts of Visayas and Mindanao. The LSIs refused to leave the airport terminal building, saying that they will just wait for a flight whenever it becomes available.
The OWWA provided meals, while the MIAA distributed Malasakit Kits to the LSIs.
MIAA GM Monreal expressed concern that LSIs continued and prolonged stay outside the airport building pose risk to their health. He appealed to other LSIs to make sure they have confirmed booking and valid tickets for the day to avoid going through the same experience.
