NAIA Closes Taxiway due to Pothole

Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) issued two significant NOTAMs (Notice to Air Missions) that may impact flight schedules and passenger experiences starting today.

As of 1249H, NOTAM B5007/23 has been issued for Manila’s NAIA, announcing the closure of Taxiway H2. The closure is attributed to the presence of a pothole, emphasizing the airport’s commitment to ensuring safety for all air missions. Potholes on taxiways can pose a risk to aircraft, necessitating immediate closure and maintenance.

The closure of Taxiway H2 may affect the movement of aircraft on the ground, leading to potential delays in taxiing and take-offs. Airlines and air traffic control will be working collaboratively to manage the situation and ensure the safety of all flights.

Another NOTAM, B5008/23, was issued for NAIA at 1342H, outlining changes in runway operations. Departures from Runway 06 will now take place via taxiway E5, while arrivals on Runway 24 will exit via the same taxiway. These adjustments are likely in response to the closure of Taxiway H2 and are aimed at maintaining efficient air traffic flow despite the temporary disruption.

Impact on Flight Departures & Arrivals

Travelers using NAIA for departure or arrival should anticipate some delays in their flights. The closure of Taxiway H2 and the changes in runway operations necessitate careful coordination between airlines, air traffic control, and ground operations to minimize disruptions. Passengers are encouraged to check with their respective airlines for real-time updates on departure and arrival times.
