Embraer Achieves Milestone with 1600th Ipanema Agricultural Airplane Delivery Amidst Surging Sales

Embraer’s Agricultural Aviation Division has marked the delivery of its 1600th Ipanema agricultural airplane, underscoring the company’s success in the rapidly expanding market.

The year 2023 witnessed an impressive surge in sales for Embraer, with the Agricultural Aviation Division delivering 65 Ipanema airplanes — a notable 18% increase compared to the preceding year. This outstanding performance culminated in the company achieving the significant milestone of 1,600 units produced and delivered over the course of the aircraft’s five-decade uninterrupted production history, with the milestone reached in December.

“Agribusiness has a significant positive impact on Brazil’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and we are very pleased to see how the Ipanema has contributed to the sector’s high productivity, efficiency, and sustainability,” according to Sany Onofre, Manager of Embraer’s Ipanema Program

The upswing in sales has been attributed to the continuous growth seen since the launch of the new version of the EMB-203 model in 2020. Bolstered by this success, Embraer has ambitious plans for the future, aiming to further increase production to 70 planes in the coming year.

The Ipanema has solidified its position as a leader in the Brazilian aerial applications market. Its innovative features and improvements not only enhance robustness but also contribute to low operating costs and reduced carbon emissions. The Ipanema stands out as the only agricultural airplane certified and produced in series to run on ethanol — a renewable energy source. This eco-friendly fuel not only aligns with sustainability goals but also provides increased power to the aircraft’s engine, further emphasizing Embraer’s commitment to technological advancement and environmental responsibility.
