The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has ramped up its preparations prior to the landfall of Typhoon “Rolly” earlier today. The same level of preparedness shall be followed for the incoming Typhoon “Siony”.
Airports have secured its powerplant and runway equipment, boarded their facilities, coordinated with the local Disaster Risk Management Committee (DRMC) offices, and has activated its procedures for typhoon disaster response.
Masbate Airport (MBT)
As of recent reports, Masbate Airport did not incur any damages.
Legazpi Airport (LGP)
The passenger terminal building at the Legazpi Airport sustained minimal damage in its ceiling boards and runway lights. Clearing operations have been done. Meanwhile, operations are expected to resume either today (November 1) or tomorrow (November 2).
Virac Airport (VRC)
Temporarily stopped operations since yesterday, 31 October 2020 at 1400H
Naga Airport (WNP)
Temporarily stopped operations since yesterday, 31 October 2020 at 1235H. As of today, it was initially reported that Naga Airport, specifically its passenger terminal building, sustained serious damages brought by the typhoon. CAAP Area Manager Cynthia Tumanut is still waiting for reports.
Sangley Airport (SGL)
Sustained no damages and flooding. CAAP has also released a NOTAM regarding the closure of operations until 02 November 2020.
CAAP airports in Area 8 (Eastern Visayas) such as Biliran, Borongan, Calbayog, Catarman, Catbalogan, Tacloban, Guiuan, Holongos, Maasin, Ormoc did not sustain damages.
CAAP airport managers are still on high alert and closely monitoring and conducting inspections at their respective airports, per DOTr.
