As Philippine Airlines (PAL) celebrates its 85th anniversary, its freight and logistics division, PAL Cargo, unveils a bold vision for the future — one centered on digital transformation, expanded services, and stronger support for Filipino entrepreneurs and global e-commerce growth.
Staying true to its brand promise of “Care that Delivers,” PAL Cargo is embracing the challenges and opportunities of the digital era to become a more agile, accessible, and customer-centric logistics partner.
“In today’s digital-first economy, our revitalized business reflects PAL Cargo’s support for digital innovation, broader reach, and tailored logistics solutions that help local entrepreneurs grow and compete in both local and global markets,” according to Jason Siy, PAL Vice President for Cargo.
Digital Tools & Seamless Access
One of the cornerstones of PAL Cargo’s transformation is the integration of user-friendly digital tools. Businesses and individuals can now conveniently book, pay, and track their domestic shipments online, with a mobile-friendly platform in development. PAL Cargo also has plans to expand its digital services to cover international shipments, making logistics more efficient and accessible.
The upcoming launch of a Port-to-Door delivery service will further enhance its offerings beyond the current airport-to-airport model. Another exciting development is the planned integration of PAL’s Mabuhay Miles loyalty program, allowing cargo customers to earn miles with every shipment.
Innovative Services for Diverse Needs
PAL Cargo caters to a wide range of shipping needs, from eCommerce packages and pharmaceuticals to perishables and high-value items. It follows global best practices such as IATA guidelines for pet transport and assigns security escorts for sensitive shipments, ensuring safety and reliability.
Among its most in-demand services are the Rush Cargo option — which guarantees loading on a specific flight — and the Block Space Agreement, which allows clients to reserve space on domestic flights regardless of volume.
Expanding Partnerships & Reach
With strategic partnerships such as its ongoing collaboration with Airspeed and an upcoming formal agreement with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), PAL Cargo is making strides in enabling micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to access both domestic and global markets. “Even in areas we don’t currently fly to, our global partnerships allow us to extend our services and connect their businesses to the world,” Siy noted.
Nationwide Coverage, Global Ambition
PAL Cargo operates through key hubs in Manila (NAIA), Clark, Cebu, and Davao, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the Philippine archipelago. These logistics hubs serve as vital connectors between domestic shippers and international markets.
According to recent IATA data, global air cargo volumes rose by 5.8% in April 2025, driven by stronger international trade activity and favorable operating conditions. Siy emphasized that this trend bodes well for the Philippine economy.
