AirAsia Philippines has officially increased its flight frequency between Manila (MNL | RPLL) and Taipei (TPE | RCTP) to 17 flights per week starting this July 2025, responding to the sustained growth in travel demand between the two capitals. This latest expansion reflects the airline’s efforts to meet the strong appetite for international travel among Filipinos and Taiwanese tourists alike.
The decision to ramp up services on the Manila-Taipei route follows AirAsia Philippines’ impressive performance on this sector, having maintained an average load factor of 85%. Taipei continues to rank as one of the airline’s top-performing international destinations, underscoring consistent and robust passenger demand.
From January to June 2025 alone, AirAsia Philippines flew over 70,000 passengers to Taiwan’s capital. The airline expects this figure to climb further with the recent extension of Taiwan’s visa-free entry policy for Filipino travelers staying up to 14 days, now valid until 31 July 2026. This development is seen as a key driver of outbound travel from the Philippines to Taiwan in the months ahead.
Suresh Bangah, AirAsia Philippines President and CEO, emphasized the timing of this expansion said, “The additional flights come at the perfect time as we enter Q3 and gear up for the peak travel season. This move gets us ready for the expected surge in demand during the ‘Ber’ months, when many Filipinos head to Taipei to enjoy its cooler climate from September through February. It also allows us to serve our guests better by offering more options and flexibility whether they’re flying for leisure, business, or to reconnect with family and friends.”
Beyond boosting flight frequencies, AirAsia Philippines continues to enhance its operational capacity through its growing 15 + 1 aircraft fleet. This move strengthens the airline’s ability to meet the rising demand across both domestic and international routes while reaffirming its commitment to providing affordable, accessible, and reliable travel for all.
With the enhanced Manila-Taipei service, AirAsia Philippines reinforces its position as a key player in connecting Filipinos to Asia’s most vibrant destinations.
