AirAsia Philippines congratulates Angeline Colonia and Rosalinda Faustino for finishing strong, winning a total of 5 gold medals in the recently-held 2022 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Though their first stint in international competition, the Filipina junior weightlifters bested other athletes from 25 countries and lifted the Philippines after finishing first in their respective categories. Colonia broke the world and Asian records after bagging two gold and a silver medal in the 62kg, 61kg, and 40kg categories, respectively. Faustino on the other hand bagged three gold medals in the 71kg, 90kg, and 49kg categories.
“AirAsia is very proud of our young athletes. We admire their dedication and perseverance that is also reflective of the ‘never stop attitude’ among Allstars who continue to power through to reach their dreams. Angeline and Rosalinda are pure raw talents who only need adequate support, and AirAsia will be there to ensure that they reach their goals and good intentions for their family and their beloved country,” according to Ricky Isla, CEO of AirAsia Philippines.
To celebrate their victory, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline pledged to support their travels to and from Zamboanga during the duration of their training in preparation for the upcoming 2023 World Youth Championships in Columbia and the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.
AirAsia Philippines through its alwaysREDy: anytime, anywhere corporate social responsibility umbrella program has previously supported the trips of Angeline, Rosalinda, and their coach Gregorio Colonia to and from Zamboanga City prior to competing in Uzbekistan.
The two gold medalists are scheduled to visit AirAsia Philippines’ Red Point Headquarters on 27 July 2022 before flying home to Zamboanga City where they are expected to receive a hero’s welcome.
