AirAsia Philippines is set to enhance connectivity in Central Visayas by reopening five key routes out of its Cebu hub, further cementing its presence in the Queen City of the South.
Beginning 03 September 2025, travelers can book flights to Iloilo (ILO | RPVI), Caticlan (MPH | RPVE), Davao (DVO | RPMD), Kuala Lumpur (KUL | WMKK), and Macau (MFM | VMMC) through the AirAsia MOVE app or airasia.com. Services to these destinations will commence on 15 November 2025, utilizing the airline’s Airbus A320 fleet.

The expansion comes as Cebu continues to thrive as a major travel gateway, with the Department of Tourism Region 7 recording 5.1 million tourist arrivals in 2024. AirAsia Philippines is banking on this strong demand, seeing Cebu as a strategic hub to connect domestic travelers with key leisure destinations, while also expanding its reach to international markets.
“Cebu remains a major driver in realizing our growth story in the Philippines. We recognize the value of this very important route, connecting via Cebu to key domestic and international leisure markets. We look forward to further broadening opportunities in the tourism sector, helping generate jobs and ultimately contributing to inclusive economic growth. This initiative also allowed us to welcome new all-star pilots, cabin crew, and ramp agents who will augment the manpower requirements,” according to AirAsia Philippines President & Chief Executive Officer Suresh Bangah.
The airline’s Flight Operations Department has recently welcomed hundreds of applicants for pilot and cabin crew roles, with successful candidates expected to be deployed in Cebu as part of the expanded operations.
The timing of the Cebu hub relaunch is also strategic, aligning with the start of the “ber” months, a peak travel season in the Philippines when families and leisure travelers plan holiday trips.
AirAsia Philippines reiterated its mission to democratize air travel by offering value-driven fares and regular promotional sales, ensuring more Filipinos can explore both local and international destinations.
