AirAsia Philippines Secures Strong Backing from CFM International; Anticipates Robust Growth in 2024

AirAsia Philippines is gearing up for a promising year ahead in 2024 thanks to the recent renewal of its partnership agreement with CFM International, the renowned engine provider.

The collaboration between AirAsia Philippines and CFM International has been further fortified, with CFM’s unwavering commitment to enhance fleet stability on-site and implement round-the-clock virtual monitoring of AirAsia’s LEAP-1A engine operations. This strategic alliance has emerged as a pivotal catalyst for AirAsia as it aims to reintegrate its full fleet across the Group.

“The solid backing from CFM International will help us fast-track our recovery plan and expansion next year. We expect that this will also allow us to better operate our existing aircraft and the additional A321neo and A330 to service our existing and new markets here in the country and in ASEAN giving our guests a better alternative and the best value for money, whilst maintaining our world-class service,” according to First Officer Steve Dailisan, Head of Communications and Public Affairs at AirAsia Philippines.

For AirAsia Philippines, this support comes at a crucial juncture, aligning perfectly with the airline’s ambitious plans to double its fleet count in 2024. This expansion initiative is intended to bolster its network, encompassing a total of 45 domestic and international routes.

Capital A, the parent company of AirAsia Philippines, is equally enthusiastic about capitalizing on this renewed partnership. The airline, with a renewed fleet of 204 aircraft, envisions expanding its presence to surpass 300 aircraft within the next five years. This strategic trajectory is in line with its overarching mission to provide affordable and value-driven travel options, facilitating seamless connectivity across the ASEAN region and beyond.

In a concerted effort to contribute to regional connectivity and meet the growing demand for air travel, AirAsia Philippines has thrown its weight behind the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) vision. DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista recently expressed support for Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri’s call for increased direct flights between the Philippines and Thailand, an endeavor that AirAsia Philippines eagerly endorses.

“As one of the leading Philippine carriers backed by a strong regional network, AirAsia Philippines remains dedicated to empowering inclusive and accessible growth across the tourism and travel sectors. Should this proposal of Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri be realized, we expect the move to enable more inclusive growth across our regional destinations, and we aim to do it with the best value. Furthermore, if AirAsia Philippines is provided with more slots as an opportunity to boost tourism, we are ready to facilitate stronger economic ties anchored on tourism and trade in the Philippines and beyond,” Dailisan added.

As of September 2023, AirAsia Philippines proudly serves 11 domestic destinations and 12 international destinations from Manila, all while maintaining a steadfast presence with two (02) domestic and three (03) international flights departing from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
