AirAsia Philippines Supports Cebu Connect to Enhance Passenger Travel Experience

AirAsia Philippines has announced its participation in the launch of Cebu Connect, an initiative by Aboitiz GMR MEGAWIDE Cebu Airport Corporation (AGMCAC) aimed at establishing Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA | CEB | RPVM) as a premier hub for connecting flights.

Cebu Connect will offer a Minimum Connectivity Time (MCT) of just 60 minutes, significantly improving the travel experience for passengers with connecting flights. This means that passengers arriving on an AirAsia Philippines flight will have ample time to make their connecting flight to destinations like Manila, Boracay, Davao, and Puerto Princesa, without the hassle of rushing through the airport. AirAsia Philippines also has plans to expand its network in the future, reopening popular international routes to Kuala Lumpur, Narita, Osaka, Taipei, and Seoul. This expansion will provide even more travel options for passengers flying into MCIA, making it a more attractive transit point for travelers heading to other parts of Southeast Asia and beyond.

“We commend AGMCAC’s initiative for simplifying airport transfers. This will provide a great boost for millions of travelers, granting them access to a wider network of destinations and making connecting flights more seamless and convenient. Integrating Cebu Connect with AirAsia Philippines’ offerings will elevate the quality of our services and solidify our position as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline,” according to AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla, as he expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting its benefits not only for the Philippines but also for the entire ASEAN region.

Isla further emphasized the potential for expanded travel options with Cebu Connect, “We would like to offer new destinations like Bangkok, Vietnam, Phnom Penh, and additional cities in North Asia. These potential routes will provide passengers with more travel choices and solidify Cebu’s position as a key international transfer hub in the region.”
