Airbus has further reinforced its long-standing collaboration with Philippine Airlines (PAL) following the signing of a new, extended Flight Hour Services (FHS) agreement that will provide comprehensive maintenance and operational support across the flag carrier’s entire Airbus fleet. The renewed contract underscores both companies’ shared commitment to operational excellence, fleet reliability, and long-term cost efficiency.
Under the expanded agreement, Airbus FHS will now support PAL’s fleet of 09 A350-1000 aircraft, 11 A330 Family aircraft, and 43 A320 Family aircraft. The scope of the contract includes full component support services such as standard exchange, component repair, component reliability management, and dedicated engineering services. To further enhance responsiveness and operational readiness, Airbus will also provide on-site component stock at Philippine Airlines’ main base in Manila.
The renewed FHS agreement is designed to improve aircraft availability, boost dispatch reliability, and offer predictable maintenance costs — key priorities for airlines operating complex, multi-type fleets in today’s highly competitive aviation environment. By leveraging Airbus’ integrated, data-driven maintenance solutions, Philippine Airlines is positioned to optimise fleet performance while focusing resources on its core mission of delivering safe and reliable air transport.
Airbus and Philippine Airlines began their Flight Hour Services partnership in 2018, when an initial agreement was signed to support PAL’s A350-900 fleet. This collaboration marked a significant step in PAL’s widebody operations, particularly for long-haul routes. In 2022, the partnership was expanded to include the airline’s A320 and A330 fleets, reflecting growing confidence in Airbus’ ability to deliver consistent, high-quality support across multiple aircraft families. The latest agreement builds on this foundation, extending coverage across PAL’s entire Airbus fleet.
“We thank Philippine Airlines for extending its Flight Hour Services agreements across its entire Airbus fleet to cover the A350, A330 Family and A320 Family. This demonstrates the strength of our long-standing partnership and our shared commitment to operational excellence. By delivering comprehensive component support and on-site services in Manila, we are helping PAL optimise fleet performance while benefiting from predictable, long-term maintenance costs,” according to Anand Stanley, President Airbus Asia-Pacific.
Airbus Flight Hour Services is a key pillar of Airbus’ customer support offering, providing flexible and comprehensive maintenance solutions tailored to the operational needs of airlines worldwide. The programme enables operators to pay for maintenance based on actual flight hours, significantly reducing financial risk and improving cost transparency. Backed by Airbus’ global supply chain, advanced digital tools, and deep engineering expertise, FHS delivers data-driven insights that enhance reliability and operational efficiency.
Airbus FHS is recognised as the global leader in Power-by-the-Hour component support for A330 and A350 aircraft material services. Its proven track record in supporting both widebody and single-aisle fleets allows airlines like Philippine Airlines to benefit from scalable, multi-fleet solutions under a single, integrated framework.
With this latest agreement, Airbus reaffirms its role as a long-term partner to Philippine Airlines, supporting the carrier’s fleet strategy and operational goals as it continues to serve domestic, regional, and long-haul markets. The strengthened partnership highlights Airbus’ ongoing commitment to airlines in the Asia-Pacific region and its focus on delivering reliable, cost-effective, and future-ready support solutions.
