Azorra, in collaboration with Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), celebrates a significant milestone with the delivery of the first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. The event, marked by a special handover ceremony attended by senior executives from Azorra, Scoot, and Embraer, took place at Embraer’s facility in Brazil.
Dubbed “Explorer 3.0” in honor of Scoot’s newest fleet addition, the delivery of the E190-E2 signifies a historic moment as it becomes the first time a Singaporean carrier introduces an aircraft from the renowned Brazilian manufacturer.
Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer of Scoot, expressed pride in being the pioneer Singapore carrier to incorporate this modern and fuel-efficient aircraft into their fleet. Thng emphasized the strategic importance of the E190-E2 jets in Scoot’s network growth strategy, underlining their commitment to offering customers expanded destinations while maintaining affordability.
John Evans, CEO and founder of Azorra, shared his excitement about the partnership with Scoot, highlighting the E2’s role in facilitating optimized expansion and market development. He underscored the significance of this milestone as Azorra expands its commitment to the Asia-Pacific region.
Embraer’s President and CEO of Commercial Aviation, Arjan Meijer, emphasized the suitability of the E-Jets for Scoot’s ambitions, citing the aircraft’s exceptional short-runway performance and its ability to enhance regional connectivity. Meijer expressed anticipation about how Scoot’s passengers would enjoy the comfort and efficiency of the E190-E2.
The commencement of Scoot E2 services is scheduled for May 2024, with Explorer 3.0’s inaugural flight destined for Krabi, Thailand. This marks the beginning of a new era for Scoot and reinforces its position as a key player in the Southeast Asian aviation market.
