The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has lifted the precautionary suspension of Topflite Academy of Aviation Inc. (TAAI) but stressed that the flight school will remain under close and continuous monitoring following a recent aviation incident in Zambales.
The suspension, imposed after a Cessna aircraft operated by TAAI was involved in an incident near Iba Airport in July, was officially lifted on 06 August 2025. Despite the resumption of its flight training operations, CAAP has mandated the academy to submit corrective action plans addressing inspection findings within the prescribed timeframe.
Under the agency’s directives, heightened surveillance will be maintained to ensure TAAI’s strict adherence to all safety and regulatory requirements. This includes on-site checks, documentation reviews, and operational audits to confirm that the necessary safety protocols are in place and consistently followed.
Meanwhile, all pilots linked to the Zambales incident remain suspended pending the results of CAAP’s ongoing investigation. The agency reiterated that any disciplinary measures will depend on the findings, which aim to determine the cause of the incident and prevent future occurrences.
CAAP said the decision to lift the suspension was based on its assessment that TAAI had taken initial steps toward compliance, but emphasized that “lifting the suspension does not mean lessening the scrutiny.” The agency highlighted that its role is to ensure that aviation schools operate to the highest safety standards, both for trainees and the public. The CAAP reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, rigorous oversight, and the continuous improvement of aviation safety practices in the country.
