Cebu Pacific Launches Inaugural Flight of Bulgaria Air Damp Leased Aircraft

Cebu Pacific, the leading carrier in the Philippines, commenced operations on 14 January 2024 with its A320ceo aircraft acquired through a damp lease agreement with Bulgaria Air. This move marks a significant step forward for the airline in meeting the growing demand for air travel.

The newly acquired A320ceo aircraft, each with a capacity of 180 seats, will serve routes between Manila and Cebu twice daily, as well as between Manila and Davao four times daily from January to March 2024. The first aircraft arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila on 03 January 2024, followed by the second on 07 January 2024, originating from Sofia, Bulgaria.

“We welcome these two aircraft from Bulgaria Air into our fleet, which is just one of the various measures we are undertaking to strengthen our operational resiliency. These additions will ensure that Cebu Pacific will continue to provide a convenient, reliable, and affordable air travel to every Juan,” according to Xander Lao, CEB President and Chief Commercial Officer.

Bulgaria Air, the national carrier of the Republic of Bulgaria, brings extensive experience in damp leasing aircraft, having collaborated with airlines worldwide. Damp leasing, also known as ACMI, involves an agreement where the lessor provides the aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) to the lessee.

In addition to the two new aircraft, Cebu Pacific boasts a record-breaking fleet of 76 aircraft at the beginning of the year, facilitating broader domestic coverage and more competitive airfares. The airline has been actively expanding its fleet, taking delivery of 19 aircraft in 2023, with plans to increase its fleet size to 92 by the end of 2024.

At present, Cebu Pacific operates flights to 35 domestic and 25 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, further solidifying its position as a key player in the aviation industry.
