The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific marked a significant milestone on Friday, 16 August 2024, with the official relaunch of its direct flights from Manila to Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The celebratory event, held at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 prior to the flight’s departure, featured a festive atmosphere with giveaways for passengers and was graced by notable figures including Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Civil Aeronautics Board Executive Director Atty. Carmelo Arcilla, and representatives from the Manila International Airport Authority and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO).
The Manila-Kaohsiung route will now operate three times a week, offering travelers convenient options every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This relaunch signifies not just the restoration of a vital connection between two vibrant cities but also a testament to Cebu Pacific’s dedication to expanding its network and strengthening connectivity across Asia.
In his address during the ceremony, CEB Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Michael Ivan Shau emphasized the deeper meaning behind the route’s resumption, “The relaunch of this route is more than just the restoration of a connection between two vibrant cities. It is a reaffirmation of our commitment to bringing people together, fostering closer ties, and promoting mutual growth and development.”
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista echoed this sentiment, commending CEB for its ongoing efforts to cater to Filipino travelers. “I am very happy that Cebu Pacific is expanding its operations. We have the same objective of providing comfortable, accessible, safe, sustainable, and affordable travel experience to the riding public,” Bautista said in his speech.
To further sweeten the deal, Cebu Pacific is offering a special promotion from 16 to 25 August 2024, where travelers can book flights from Manila to Kaohsiung for as low as PHP1,288 one-way base fare, exclusive of fees and surcharges. This offer, valid for travel between 16 August 2024, and 31 January 2025, presents an excellent opportunity for those eager to explore Kaohsiung.
Passengers on the inaugural flight were treated to a delightful taste of Taiwanese cuisine courtesy of CEB and received souvenirs from both Taiwan Tourism and TECO, setting the tone for a memorable journey.
