DHL Express Enhances Aircraft in the Philippines for Quicker Deliveries and Higher Capacity

DHL Express has announced the upgrade of its dedicated aircraft in the Philippines from A300 to A330-300, as part of the company’s ongoing investment in its Philippine operations. The new aircraft, operated by Air Hong Kong, will offer a 31% increase in capacity from 42 tons to 55 tons and will operate 12 weekly flights, servicing the Hong Kong-Manila-Cebu-Manila-Hong Kong route.

The enhanced capacity will enable DHL to further support the growing demand for international express delivery services in the Philippines. The move also reinforces DHL’s commitment to delivering top-notch services to customers across the Asia Pacific region.

“We continue to invest in our business in the Philippines and we are proud to bring these improvements to the country. Our new and larger aircraft is a firm commitment to serving our customers, and ensure that we are prepared to support their growth at a global scale and respond to the needs and demands of the market,” according to Nigel Lockett, Country Manager for DHL Express Philippines.

The upgrade is part of a 15-year agreement between DHL, AHK Air Hong Kong Limited, and Cathay Pacific, which aims to provide overnight air delivery services and support express services across the Asia Pacific region until 2033. The investment underscores DHL’s long-term commitment to providing top-quality services to customers in the region, while also supporting the growth of businesses in the Philippines.

“We consistently upgrade and enhance our air and ground infrastructure to ensure our customers can get faster international deliveries. Our larger aircraft and earlier schedule will significantly improve our ability to support our customers with increased capacity and better transit time,” said Promod George, Senior Director for Operations at DHL Express Philippines.

DHL Express has not only upgraded its dedicated aircraft in the Philippines but also improved its schedule, bringing significant benefits to customers. The inbound flights to Manila now arrive 15 hours earlier, while arrivals in Cebu have been advanced by nine hours, resulting in shipments arriving in the morning instead of the evening. With this improvement, DHL can now offer same-day delivery services instead of next-day, providing greater convenience and faster service to its customers in the Philippines. This upgrade reinforces DHL’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its customers in the region.

Eric Queppet, Head of Commercial at DHL Express Philippines said, “This greatly benefits international shippers in the Philippines and will support our fast-growing market. Whether you are a global enterprise or a local business aiming to grow abroad or even individual Filipinos, we offer a unique and reliable advantage through our service excellence, operational enhancements, and a global network with a presence in more than 220 countries and territories.”

In addition to upgrading its aircraft and improving its schedule, DHL Express is taking steps to reduce its environmental impact in the Philippines. The company has recently added 18 new electric vehicles to its ground fleet, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and reducing emissions. With this expansion of its green fleet, DHL aims to contribute to a more sustainable future while continuing to provide high-quality express delivery services to its customers in the country. This initiative is part of DHL’s global effort to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable practices across its operations.
