DHL Express Expands Electric Vehicle Fleet in the Philippines to Strengthen Sustainability Goals

DHL Express has reinforced its commitment to sustainability with the addition of 22 electric vans (EVs) to its last-mile pickup and delivery fleet in the Philippines. This expansion increases DHL Express’ total EV count in the country to nearly 70, now making up 35% of its entire fleet, up from 24% in the previous year.

The move aligns with the company’s “Green Logistics of Choice” initiative, which integrates sustainable practices into its Strategy 2030. The company aims to reduce its carbon footprint by adopting alternative fuels, expanding its use of electric vehicles, and optimizing transportation routes to minimize greenhouse gas emissions.

“The expansion of electric vehicles into the DHL Express fleet plays an important role in reducing the environmental impact of our business processes as part of our commitment to one of our Group’s four bottom lines, green logistics of choice. Recognizing the global urgency of climate change, our goal as a logistics leader is to adapt our service offerings and operations to the changing landscape,” according to Nigel Lockett, Country Manager of DHL Express Philippines.

DHL Express first introduced electric vehicles to its Philippine fleet in December 2021. This initiative is part of DHL Group’s global target to have 60% of its pickup and delivery fleet running on electric power by 2030.

Beyond vehicle electrification, they also launched GoGreen Plus, a service that allows customers to reduce emissions from international air cargo shipments by using sustainable aviation fuel. This initiative, introduced in 2023, is made possible through partnerships with bp, Neste, and World Energy.
