DHL Express has been recognized with the E-mobility Award for Technology Adoption at the 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit. Presented by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (eVAP), the award honors organizations that drive significant progress in electric vehicle (EV) adoption within their operations.
The accolade highlights DHL Express Philippines’ leadership in integrating EVs into its logistics processes. The company began deploying electric vehicles in 2021 and has steadily expanded its fleet, which now includes 47 EVs, accounting for 24% of its total vehicle count. This initiative aligns with DHL Group’s global target to electrify 60% of its last-mile delivery vehicles by 2030.
“We are immensely honored to be recognized for our sustainability efforts, particularly in reducing the environmental impact of our logistics operations. This award is a testament to our ongoing dedication as a responsible corporate citizen and implementing decarbonization measures. At DHL Express, we are committed to leading the way in sustainable logistics practices, integrating advanced technologies like electric vehicles into our fleet to support our global decarbonization goals. This recognition not only validates our current initiatives but also inspires us to continue innovating and expanding our services in our mission to become the “Green Logistics of Choice”, which is our fourth strategic bottom line,” according to Nigel Lockett, Country Manager of DHL Express Philippines.
Beyond fleet electrification, DHL Express launched the GoGreen Plus service in 2023, empowering customers to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with their international air freight through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Made from renewable energy, sustainable biomass, or waste, SAF significantly lowers the environmental impact of air transportation, which accounts for 68% of the company’s carbon footprint.
The GoGreen Plus initiative supports DHL Group’s ambitious goal to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. Partnerships with leading renewable energy providers like bp, Neste, and World Energy ensure a reliable supply of SAF for this groundbreaking effort.
