In a significant boost for Clark International Airport (CRK | RPLC), DITO Telecommunity has partnered with Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) Corporation to launch high-speed WiFi across the terminal, thanks to a PHP50 million investment. This initiative, spanning two years, aligns with the airport’s vision of becoming a world-class gateway, offering passengers reliable and swift internet connectivity, powered by DITO’s advanced 5G infrastructure.
The new DITO-powered WiFi service enhances the digital experience for both domestic and international travelers at Clark, allowing them to enjoy secure, seamless internet connectivity before boarding their flights. Passengers can now stay connected, stream videos, work, and communicate easily — meeting the airport’s goal of a globally competitive travel experience.
Eric Alberto, President and CEO of DITO Telecommunity, emphasized the importance of the partnership, “At DITO, we are driven by a vision of a brighter future for the Filipino people, powered by our 5G technology. We now serve millions of Filipinos and actively engage in community-building efforts, government programs, and cultural celebrations nationwide. Adding to this mission is to ensure we also provide convenient and accessible internet access to tourism gateways in the country. This partnership with Clark International Airport symbolizes our shared commitment to innovation and excellence, showcasing what we can achieve when we unite our strengths.”
Alongside the WiFi rollout, DITO has installed additional amenities to elevate passengers’ experience. Working tables with charging stations have been strategically placed within the terminal, allowing travelers to charge devices while working or relaxing. In addition, kiosk-style charging stations provide quick and convenient battery boosts for those in need. For further connectivity, DITO has also introduced SIM vending machines, enabling travelers to easily purchase DITO SIM cards upon arrival for immediate access to reliable internet.
This initiative arrives as the travel and tourism industry makes a steady recovery post-pandemic. In 2022, Clark International Airport saw 629,000 international and 140,000 domestic passengers. For the first half of 2023, passenger numbers reached 948,608, with projections aiming for 2 million by the end of the year, cementing Clark’s role as a crucial regional hub. DITO’s Wi-Fi service is positioned to enhance the travel experience and contribute to the Philippines’ goal of a modern, tourist-friendly infrastructure.
As the #1 Rated Mobile Network in the Philippines, based on Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data from 2023 to 2024, DITO’s latest partnership reinforces its commitment to delivering high-speed internet and contributing to the progress of the tourism and transport sectors. This new service at Clark International Airport embodies DITO’s vision of connectivity as an essential pillar of national development and innovation.
