Embraer announced a significant step towards enhancing Brazil’s air traffic management capabilities. Its technology subsidiary, Atech, has secured two contracts totaling US$17 million with the Department of Airspace Control (DECEA) to modernize control centers and upgrade strategic airspace management solutions.
The partnership between Atech and DECEA, solidified through these new contracts, will focus on the implementation of two cutting-edge systems: SAGITARIO and SIGMA. Developed jointly by Atech and the Brazilian Airspace Control System Implementation Commission (CISCEA/DECEA), these solutions aim to optimize air traffic flow, improve safety, and enhance operational efficiency.
SAGITARIO, a robust air traffic management system, consolidates data from various sources, including radars and satellites, into a unified visual interface for air traffic controllers. This comprehensive view of the airspace empowers controllers to make faster and more accurate decisions, ensuring the seamless flow of air traffic across Brazil.
SIGMA, on the other hand, is a comprehensive air traffic flow management solution designed to optimize the handling of air traffic information, flight plans, and airport capacities. By distributing air traffic efficiently, SIGMA contributes to smoother operations and reduced delays.
Atech CEO Rodrigo Persico expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “We feel honored and committed to DECEA/CISCEA. These contracts mark an important milestone for Atech and for the development of aerospace technology in Brazil. We believe that the modernized solutions will significantly contribute to the optimization of Brazilian air traffic, benefiting passengers, airlines, and the aviation sector as a whole.”
With a strong foundation in systems engineering and expertise in situational awareness and decision support technologies, Atech is poised to deliver innovative solutions that will propel Brazil’s aviation industry forward. The company’s commitment to technological advancement aligns with its vision to transform the country through cutting-edge solutions.
The modernization of Brazil’s air traffic control system is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s aviation industry, leading to improved safety, efficiency, and overall passenger experience.
