Exploring Aeronautical Engineering at Mapúa MCL

Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) recently hosted an insightful seminar aimed at providing students with a clearer understanding of career opportunities in aeronautical engineering. The event, titled “Career Takeoffs: Preparing for a Career in Aeronautical Engineering,” was organized by the Office for Strategic Partnerships and Global Engagement (OSPGE).

The seminar featured Engr. Alessandro Rossi, a distinguished aeronautical engineer from Airbus UK, was the keynote speaker. Engr. Rossi shared his professional journey, offering invaluable insights into the demands and rewards of a career in aeronautical engineering. He emphasized the critical role of both technical and personal skills in achieving success in the field. According to Rossi, while technical competencies such as problem-solving and critical thinking are essential, personal attributes like teamwork, communication, and self-management are equally important for professional growth.

Mapúa MCL, through its newly established Mapúa-Laguna Institute of Aviation (MIA), offers a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering program. This comprehensive program is designed to prepare students for various roles in the aviation industry, covering fundamental areas such as aerodynamics, aircraft design, and propulsion systems. The curriculum is structured to include hands-on experience through laboratory work, industry placements, and real-world projects, ensuring that students can apply their theoretical knowledge in practical settings.

“Collaborating with industry leaders is crucial. These partnerships provide students with the skills, experiences, and connections needed to thrive in a competitive job market. Mapúa MCL remains committed to these partnerships, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for fulfilling careers,” according to Pearl Ulep, OSPGE Director.

Located in Cabuyao, Laguna, Mapúa MCL has established itself as one of the top-performing private schools in Calabarzon. The institution, which began offering programs in 2007, has earned numerous accolades, including a 3-star overall rating from the UK-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Star Rating System and ISO 21001:2018 certification. Mapúa MCL’s commitment to quality education is further reflected in its strategic collaborations with international institutions, such as the Business College of Athens and Arizona State University.

With the launch of its B.S. Aeronautical Engineering program under the Mapúa-Laguna Institute of Aviation, Mapúa MCL continues to expand its academic offerings, providing students with diverse opportunities to pursue successful careers in various industries.
