Global logistics giant Federal Express Corporation successfully transported more than 20,000 pounds of hot air balloons and drones for the 26th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, reinforcing its role as a key logistics provider for large-scale international events. The aviation festival, themed “A Weekend of Everything that Flies,” was held from 13 to 15 February 2026, in New Clark City, Tarlac, drawing participants and aviation enthusiasts from across the globe.
The shipment involved highly specialized cargo originating from Asia, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and the United States. Moving such equipment required detailed logistical coordination due to the unusual size, delicate materials, and irregular shapes of the balloons and aerial devices. The successful delivery ensured that all participating teams had their aircraft and equipment ready for scheduled demonstrations and flights during the three-day event.

According to Maribeth Espinosa, Managing Director of FedEx Philippines, the operation highlighted the company’s ability to execute complex global shipments involving oversized freight. She noted that the firm relied on its international network, specialized freight solutions, and experienced personnel to transport the cargo safely across multiple continents while maintaining strict delivery timelines and cargo integrity.
The logistics operation required advanced planning and precision handling. Teams implemented detailed load-planning strategies to optimize aircraft space and protect fragile components. Specialized equipment and packaging methods were used to secure balloon envelopes, baskets, burners, drone units, and related gear. Coordination between ground crews, flight planners, customs specialists, and airside infrastructure teams ensured smooth transfers between transport hubs and minimized delays.
Handling such shipments demands not only speed but also technical expertise. Oversized cargo must meet aviation safety regulations, weight distribution standards, and customs requirements in each transit country. FedEx leveraged its established freight systems and tracking technology to monitor the shipments in real time, allowing organizers and participants to track their equipment’s progress until final delivery at the festival site.
The successful logistics effort played a crucial role in enabling the international aviation showcase to proceed without disruption. Events like the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta depend heavily on reliable transport partners capable of managing intricate supply chains, particularly when equipment must travel thousands of miles within tight schedules.
