FedEx Empowers Marginalized Filipino Youth with Education Initiatives in Collaboration with Local Non-Profit

FedEx Express, the globally recognized express transportation powerhouse and a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., has joined hands with the local non-profit organization Hands On Manila to extend a helping hand to marginalized youths in the Philippines. Through a concerted effort, the two entities have embarked on an initiative to provide essential educational resources and support to over 5,900 students hailing from Ricardo P. Cruz Elementary School in Taguig, Manila, and Callos Escopalia Elementary School in Santa Cruz, Laguna.

The partnership, a part of the well-regarded FedEx Cares program, has yielded a substantial impact on the education landscape of these underserved communities. FedEx Express has demonstrated its commitment by generously contributing a range of critical resources to facilitate a conducive learning environment. These resources include laptops, printers, tablets, an assortment of books, school supplies, agricultural tools, hygiene kits, and medicines. The initiative recognizes the increasing importance of digital connectivity in education and has also provided a two-year internet connection to bolster the students’ learning experience.

“Committing to Do Good is one of our core culture values. Our commitment in supporting the social and economic needs of disadvantaged communities including youth education contributes to our purpose to connect people and possibilities,” according to Maribeth Espinosa, Managing Director, FedEx Express Philippines.

A standout feature of this collaboration is the dedicated involvement of FedEx volunteers, whose tireless efforts have transcended the boundaries of traditional education. Thirteen (13) FedEx volunteers, driven by a shared passion for community development, have taken an active role in this project. They’ve conducted engaging storytelling sessions that captivated the minds of over 90 students, fostering a love for learning. Art sessions have also been meticulously arranged to stimulate creativity and self-expression among the young participants.

For nearly four decades, FedEx Express Philippines has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the advancement of social causes and the betterment of local communities. Through its ongoing dedication, the company has tackled pressing societal challenges head-on, with education being a cornerstone of its philanthropic endeavors.
