FedEx Expands International Connect Plus to Boost Filipino eCommerce in MEISA Region

Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has announced the expansion of its FedEx® International Connect Plus (FICP) service to the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa (MEISA) region. The move aims to give Filipino businesses, particularly eCommerce sellers and small to medium enterprises (SMEs), greater access to key global markets through fast, reliable, and cost-effective day-definite shipping solutions.

The expansion comes amid growing trade activity between the Philippines and MEISA countries. In March 2025 alone, Philippine exports to the United Arab Emirates reached US$34.3 million, marking a 2.51% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, India shipped US$177 million worth of goods to the Philippines during the same period, representing a 9.39% growth compared to last year.

“As Filipino businesses explore more trade with more markets like the UAE and Saudi Arabia, there’s a growing need for shipping solutions that are both affordable and reliable. By expanding FedEx International Connect Plus to the MEISA region, we’re helping e-tailers and small to medium enterprises (SMEs) deliver their products faster and easier, and with the confidence to thrive in the global market,” according to Maribeth Espinosa, Managing Director of FedEx Philippines.

FICP is designed to meet the rising demands of cross-border eCommerce, catering specifically to low-value, single-piece shipments under 10 kilograms. The service is backed by the extensive FedEx international network and offers features such as day-definite delivery, customs clearance, and enhanced shipment visibility. Through FedEx Delivery Manager® International, customers can track packages, receive delivery notifications, and choose flexible delivery options to fit their schedules.

In a bid to further enhance trust in eCommerce transactions, FedEx has introduced Picture Proof of Delivery for FICP shipments. This feature allows recipients to visually confirm the arrival of their packages, improving transparency and customer satisfaction.

With this expansion, FedEx aims to empower Filipino entrepreneurs to tap into more international markets, capitalize on rising global trade opportunities, and meet growing customer expectations for speed and reliability in shipping.
