FedEx Express reaffirms its commitment to fostering gender diversity in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through a partnership with the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs (Zonta). This collaboration, now in its second consecutive year, aims to empower young women pursuing STEM education as part of the FedEx Cares program.
FedEx Corp. donated over PHP1.9 million to Zonta’s Empowering Women Scholarship Program (EWSP). The funds are earmarked for supporting marginalized women enrolled in engineering and science courses, specifically benefiting students at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines over the next three years. The financial assistance provided by FedEx covers various essential expenses, including transportation, food, school supplies, research materials for thesis projects, and graduation fees.
As a testament to its commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and the advancement of gender equality, FedEx organized a virtual career fair on 28 February 2024. This event aimed to prepare the scholarship recipients for their entry into the workforce. Students were given valuable insights into crafting professional resumes and gained practical experience through mock job interviews conducted by human resources specialists from FedEx.
This initiative is part of FedEx’s broader mission to nurture the next generation of leaders. The EWSP represents just one facet of FedEx’s multifaceted approach to addressing the social and economic needs of local communities.
