FedEx Philippines Marks 40 Years of Growth and Innovation

In September 2024, FedEx Philippines celebrates its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of delivering logistics solutions, fostering local businesses, and making a positive impact on communities. Since launching in the Philippines in 1984, FedEx has played a pivotal role in advancing the local logistics industry, enabling Filipino companies to reach global markets.

FedEx has continuously adapted to the evolving needs of its customers, offering innovative services that have empowered businesses in the Philippines. One key milestone was the launch of direct service operations in 2013, which allowed FedEx to oversee logistics processes nationwide. The opening of service hubs in Taguig’s Bonifacio Global City and Clark, Pampanga, further cemented the company’s role as a critical logistics player in the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2021, the establishment of the FedEx Clark Gateway Facility marked another significant achievement. This state-of-the-art facility, capable of sorting up to 9,000 parcels per hour, caters to the growing demand for cold-chain logistics and e-commerce solutions. The 630-square-meter freight-handling area has been instrumental in meeting the rising need for bulk and large-item shipments.

“As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, FedEx Philippines continues to deliver innovative solutions that keep pace with the changing needs of local businesses. Our journey in the Philippines is a testament to our dedication to fostering economic growth, empowering Filipino businesses, and making a positive impact on local communities,” according to Maribeth Espinosa, Managing Director of FedEx Philippines.

Prioritizing Employees and Community Impact

At the heart of FedEx’s success is its People-Service-Profit (PSP) philosophy, which emphasizes employee well-being as the foundation for excellent customer service and profitability. This approach has earned FedEx multiple awards, including seven distinctions at the 2024 HR Excellence Awards Philippines.

FedEx’s community impact is equally notable. Through initiatives like the Empowering Women Scholarship Program (EWSP) in collaboration with the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs, FedEx has supported the education of 60 women pursuing STEM degrees at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. The company also promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and opportunities (DEI&O) through programs aimed at fostering an inclusive workplace, which are recognized by various awards.

With its upcoming expansion of the Clark Gateway facility, FedEx is set to continue its legacy of innovation and growth, driving the logistics industry forward and empowering Filipino businesses for decades to come.
