Filipino Elected to the AsBAA Board of Directors

Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) Philippine Chapter Chair Patrick Roa has been elected into its roaster of Board of Directors during the organization’s Annual General Meeting in Singapore last 28 June 2022. The AsBAA is a non-profit representing business and general aviation entities based in Asia and around the world, and the Annual General Meeting is AsBAA’s first face-to-face event since the beginning of the pandemic. Members of the organization are mostly major operators, aircraft manufacturers, aviation service providers, finance, and insurance providers.

Almost 60% of AsBAA members participated in the election done by proxy online votes and by the onsite attendees.

A pilot by profession, Patrick Roa joined the AsBAA as an independent member in February 2021, and shortly was appointed as Board of Governor and Philippine Chapter Chair. He will continue to be the Chapter Chair as he assumes the Board of Directors position.

The AsBAA Philippine chapter has been actively fostering a more collaborative general and business aviation sector. Under Roa’s leadership, the chapter is actively pushing for the ratification of the Cape Town Convention agreement on aircraft leases with the Philippine Congress, and has worked successfully with the Joint Foreign Chambers for the ratification of the Philippine Transport Safety Board Law and together with the Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board launched a tripartite program against illegal air charters using AsBAA’s Online Reporting System. All these milestones as the Philippine chapter aim to contribute to the development of not only the local aviation sector, by to the greater aviation industry.

“It is our hope that the Philippines will soon be recognized as a major player not only in the Asian region but globally,” according to Capt. Roa.
