FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, announced the six winners of the 2023 FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx / JA ITC) Philippine Finals. The FedEx / JA ITC fosters business knowledge through practical teamwork exercises and classroom learning. The winners attended a local trade workshop and competed with seven other teams in a local competition.
This prestigious event, scheduled for August, will bring together students from Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (AMEA) markets, including Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Through teamwork and shared experiences, participants will gain a global perspective while working towards a common goal.
The 2023 program, which took place virtually, involved four workshops attended by over 1,500 students. The workshops aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge of global trade and equip them with the skills necessary to develop detailed marketing entry strategies. The challenge presented to the students was to create a sustainable alternative to a single-use product specifically tailored for the South African market. This objective aligns with FedEx’s “reduce, replace, and revolutionize” approach, aimed at minimizing environmental impact and adding value through innovative solutions.
“For more than a decade, we have witnessed the brilliance and ingenuity of the Filipino youth in ideating and creating solutions that bring positive impact to our communities. We are honored to be a part of their journey and we will continue to support them as they bring their ideas to life through their future enterprises,” according to Maribeth Espinosa, Managing Director, FedEx Express Philippines.
Since its introduction to the Philippines in 2009, the FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge has played a vital role in helping students gain a deeper understanding of international trade. The program has attracted over 6,000 students, with 78 Filipino students representing the country in the regional finals.
