The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has initiated an investigation into the cause of a fire that consumed nineteen (19) vehicles in the parking lot extension of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 this afternoon.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) Rescue and Firefighting Division (RFD) sprang into action after receiving a distress call at 1328H today, alerting them to a fire outside the immediate perimeter of the terminal. Within moments, five firetrucks were dispatched to the scene, accompanied by the MIAA Medical team.
Unofficial reports from MIAA suggest that the blaze originated from a small grass fire, which quickly escalated and engulfed several nearby parked vehicles. By 1340H, the fire was brought under control, but not before it had ravaged a total of nineteen vehicles. The MIAA RFD officially declared the fire extinguished at 1357H.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or casualties resulting from the incident. However, authorities remain vigilant as they delve deeper into the investigation to determine the precise cause of the fire.
