In response to prevent the further spread of the Novel Coronavirus and COVID-19, Japan Airlines (JAL) and its affiliate airlines within the JAL Group continue to reduce services on specific routes throughout their network.
As an added precaution, and to maintain a safe and secure environment for our customers, JAL will start adopting additional measures on their flights.
Change in Boarding Process
According to a news release on their website, all Japan Airlines (JAL) passengers will now be requested to wear face masks when traveling on JAL Group flights. Customers feeling under the weather are asked to refrain from boarding any of their flights and are advised (if any symptoms appear) to consult their respective physicians prior to taking the flight.
Social Distancing on Seat Assignments
JAL adds a temporary restriction on seat assignments, allowing more personal space inside the aircraft cabin until June 30th. And as a result of this initiative, select aircraft seats will become unavailable to reserve. Also, to assure ample space between passengers, JAL airport representatives may ask passengers to change seats prior to the flight departure. According to the JAL website post, these measures are not applicable to First Class and Business Class on International flights.
