LOT Polish Airlines has announced plans to bolster its fleet with the addition of three Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The decision comes as part of the airline’s strategy to enhance operational flexibility and support its network expansion efforts. The leasing agreement, facilitated by Azorra, underscores LOT’s dedication to sustainable growth, leveraging the E195-E2’s 25% increased efficiency compared to its predecessors.
Scheduled for delivery between July and October of this year, the new jets will enable LOT to meet its evolving capacity requirements amidst a growing route network. The E195-E2 offers a seamless transition for the airline’s existing E-Jet flight crews while providing passengers with a spacious and comfortable cabin experience, including the absence of middle seats. The aircraft’s efficiency and flexibility align with LOT’s operational objectives, complementing its existing narrow-body fleet.
Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, expressed enthusiasm for the strategic addition of the E195-E2s, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to sustainable aviation and its longstanding partnership with Embraer. Fijoł highlighted the aircraft’s potential to enhance network connectivity and increase frequencies to select destinations, further solidifying LOT’s position in the market.
Azorra CEO and founder John Evans echoed Fijoł’s sentiments, emphasizing the benefits of the new E195-E2s in terms of reduced fuel consumption, carbon emissions, and operating costs. The partnership between LOT, Azorra, and aircraft manufacturer Embraer signifies a shared commitment to innovation and efficiency in the aviation industry.
The E195-E2, configured to accommodate up to 146 passengers in a single-class layout with 136 seats, represents a significant milestone in LOT’s fleet modernization efforts. With a history that dates back to 2004 when LOT became the launch customer for the E-Jet family, the airline has since become one of the largest operators of E-Jets in Europe, serving millions of passengers across its extensive network.
Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, commended LOT’s pioneering spirit as the first operator of E-Jets and celebrated the airline’s transition to the E195-E2 model. Meijer underscored Embraer’s longstanding relationship with LOT, dating back to the delivery of the first Embraer aircraft in 1999, and expressed optimism for future collaborations.
