Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) is celebrating its 25th anniversary, highlighting a legacy of world-class aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services while playing a vital role in developing Filipino talent and supporting the country’s economic growth.
Established in 2000, LTP began as a strategic joint venture to support Philippine Airlines’ fleet renewal program. Over the past quarter-century, it has grown into one of the Philippines’ most enduring foreign investments, helping to position the country as a global hub for MRO services. Today, it serves some of the world’s leading airlines, earning a reputation for both technical expertise and workforce excellence.
Holger Beck, President and CEO of Lufthansa Technik Philippines, emphasized the company’s dual mission of aviation excellence and career development. “For 25 years, Lufthansa Technik Philippines has been more than an MRO provider. It has been a training ground, a career builder, and for many Filipino families, a life-changing partner. We are immensely proud to have trained thousands of mechanics and engineers who are recognized globally for their expertise and dedication. These employees are the foundation of our success for the last 25 years,” said Beck.

LTP’s workforce currently numbers over 3,200 employees, with more than 10,000 mechanics and engineers trained since its founding. Many have advanced through programs such as the Lufthansa Maintenance Training Program, Aircraft Type Training Courses, and leadership development initiatives. Notably, 221 employees who joined on the company’s very first day remain part of the team, with many now holding key leadership roles.
Rainer Janke, Vice President for Marketing and Sales, underscored the company’s commitment to creating opportunities locally. “Why send Filipinos to the world when we can bring the world to the Philippines?” he remarked, noting that the company’s expertise continues to attract global airlines to Manila for aircraft servicing.
LTP is known for handling complex aircraft checks, including work on the Airbus A380 — the world’s largest passenger aircraft — highlighting the technical capacity of Filipino aviation professionals. At the same time, the company nurtures a family-oriented culture, with multi-generational employees and high referral rates. Workers benefit from comprehensive support such as health insurance, educational subsidies, and family-focused activities.
Beyond aviation services, Lufthansa Technik Philippines has been a significant driver of economic activity. As one of the largest European investments in the country, the company has poured billions of pesos into infrastructure, workforce training, and facility expansion. Each aircraft serviced contributes to foreign revenue inflows and strengthens the Philippines’ reputation as an international aviation hub.
As the company celebrates its silver anniversary, it looks back on 25 years of keeping aircraft safe in the sky while empowering thousands of Filipino families. With skilled talent, global trust, and uncompromising standards at its core, Lufthansa Technik Philippines is poised to continue its mission of elevating aviation and shaping the future of Filipino expertise in the global industry.
