NCR Back to MECQ; NAIA Domestic Flights Suspended

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte announced late Sunday night that the National Capital Region (NCR; Metro Manila) will be placed back to a Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) effective 0001H of 04 August 2020 until 2359H of 18 August 2020, following the plea of medical frontliners last weekend. Included in the areas to be placed under the MECQ are the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.

Under the existing Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) guidelines, domestic flights are prohibited in areas under MECQ. This has been confirmed by Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque during the daily virtual media briefing noontime today. According to Roque, international flights may continue to be mounted but will be regulated.

The Philippine premier gateway, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), is situated in Pasay City, Metro Manila (NCR).

This is a developing story.
