The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued notices to airmen (NOTAMs) temporarily suspending flights from the United Kingdom and banning the arrival of foreigners from 19 countries. Based on the latest pronouncement by the government, a 14-day facility-based quarantine period for Filipinos and those already in transit who are coming from countries where the new variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been reported will also be enforced.
Effective 1000H of 30 December until 0001H of 16 January 2021, the Philippines will not be accepting flights from the UK, based on NOTAM B3503/20.
The NOTAM echoes the memorandum issued by the Office of the President on Tuesday, 29 December, regarding “additional measures to be observed relative to the SARS-COV-2 variant detected in the United Kingdom.”
Filipinos coming from Denmark, Ireland, Japan, Australia, Israel, The Netherlands, Hong Kong SAR, Switzerland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Lebanon, Singapore, Sweden, South Korea, South Africa, Canada, and Spain will be allowed to enter the country but will have to undergo the stricter 14-day facility-based quarantine alongside a mandatory requirement of a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.
