The country’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL) has logged another milestone by flying direct from Manila to Miami to bring home Filipino seafarers. This is the airline’s very first transpacific voyage that has capped a total flight time of 16 hours 9 minutes utilizing a Boeing B777-300ER (RP-C7772).
To date, this is by far PAL’s longest flight in terms of distance — 9,314 miles (14,989 kilometers according to FlightRadar24.com).
Operating as PR5112, the flight departed Manila (MNL) yesterday, 19 May 2020, and arrived at Miami, Florida (MIA) on the same date. The chartered flight’s mission was to fetch some 345 Filipino seafarers employed by the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.
As of this writing, the same aircraft is operating flight PR8113 and is currently en route to Los Angeles (LAX) for a technical stop before proceeding to Manila. The flight is expected to arrive in Manila on Thursday, 21 May 2020.
