PHI Aviation Takes Delivery of First Airbus H160 Helicopter in the United States, Marking a New Era for Offshore Transport

PHI Aviation, a leading provider of helicopter transportation services, has taken delivery of the first Airbus H160 helicopter in the United States, signifying a significant milestone for both companies. This marks the beginning of H160 operations in the country and represents a new chapter in offshore transportation within the Gulf of Mexico.

The initial delivery is part of a larger order placed by PHI for a total of four (04) H160s. Before commencing commercial operations, the helicopter will undergo a route-proving program specifically designed to assess its capabilities in the demanding offshore environment. This program will ensure a smooth transition into service and familiarize the operator and end users with the aircraft’s advanced technological features and industry-leading safety measures.

“This is a truly exciting milestone for our teams and partners. The H160 represents a new chapter for PHI, allowing us to further enhance our commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency in our Gulf of Mexico operations. We are incredibly proud to officially welcome this next-generation aircraft into our fleet as we embark on the route-proving program. A huge congratulations to everyone who played a role in making this achievement possible,” said Scott McCarty, CEO of PHI Group.

Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, expressed his enthusiasm about the H160’s arrival in the US market. “The H160 has set a new benchmark in the helicopter industry with its cutting-edge technology, and we are thrilled that US customers can now experience the aircraft’s superior performance firsthand,” Even remarked.

“The H160 boasts lower fuel consumption, the ability to utilize up to 50% blended sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), a remarkably comfortable cabin, and exceptional cockpit visibility,” Even continued. “These features make it perfectly suited for offshore operations, and we have full confidence that it will excel in PHI’s energy missions.”

The H160 has garnered significant interest in North America, with the recent delivery of the first Canadian model to Chartright Air Group. The aircraft is already operational in Brazil, Japan, Saudi Arabia, France, and numerous European countries, solidifying its position as a global leader in the medium-twin helicopter category.

PHI Aviation’s acquisition of the H160 signifies a commitment to innovation and a focus on providing the most efficient and advanced transportation solutions for its clients in the demanding offshore environment. With its impressive performance capabilities and focus on sustainability, the H160 is poised to make a significant impact on the future of offshore transport in the Gulf of Mexico.
