Philippine Airlines (PAL) has announced plans to commence nonstop flights between Manila and Seattle starting 02 October 2024.
PAL’s groundbreaking initiative marks the first direct link between the Philippines and the U.S. Pacific Northwest, a region historically underserved in terms of direct air connectivity. The route is anticipated to invigorate both business and leisure travel, facilitating smoother journeys for U.S. residents bound for the Philippines. In 2023 alone, over 900,000 Americans ventured to the archipelago, underscoring the pivotal role of the U.S. as the Philippines’ second-largest source of tourism.
The launch also signifies a boon for the substantial Filipino-American population residing in Washington and Oregon, which collectively accounts for more than 240,000 individuals. PAL aims to cater to the burgeoning demand from this demographic segment seeking to reconnect with their roots and loved ones back home.
Initially, PAL’s Manila-Seattle-Manila service will operate thrice weekly, departing every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Flights are scheduled for convenient take-offs at 2240H local time from Manila’s Terminal 1, and 2340H local time from Seattle Tacoma International Airport.
Seattle, renowned as a bustling tech hub and vital port city, serves as a gateway to numerous population centers across Washington and Oregon states, including Portland, Salem, Spokane, Tacoma, and Eugene. PAL passengers will benefit from enhanced connectivity through the airline’s network of partners, facilitating seamless onward travel to key destinations such as Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, and Washington D.C. in the continental U.S.
PAL’s Manila-Seattle route presents an opportunity for travelers to access the carrier’s extensive domestic and regional international network, encompassing destinations like Cebu, Davao, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur via Manila.
The addition of Seattle to PAL’s North American portfolio, comprising destinations such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, New York, Toronto, Honolulu, and Guam, underscores the airline’s commitment to expanding its trans-Pacific footprint. To operate the Seattle services, PAL will deploy Boeing B777-300ER aircraft, featuring full-flat seats in Business Class and the airline’s renowned inflight service showcasing Filipino and Western culinary delights. The recent acquisition of an additional B777-300ER aircraft (leased) signals PAL’s strategic move towards modernizing its long-haul fleet, with plans for the introduction of nine (09) brand-new Airbus A350-1000s commencing in the fourth quarter of 2025.
To promote the new Manila-Seattle service, PAL has unveiled a special introductory all-inclusive roundtrip fare, priced at US$771 for Economy Class and US$3,071 for Business Class. This promotional fare will be available until 30 April 2024, for travel between 02 October 2024 to 30 November 2024, as well as from 01 February 2025 to 22 March 2025. PAL’s initiative is poised to not only facilitate enhanced travel options but also contribute to bolstering trade and economic ties between the U.S. and Asia.
