British multinational engineering company Rolls-Royce has been reported by the Financial Times of planning to cut up to 8,000 jobs amid production woes during this COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the port, the airplane engine manufacturer’s senior leaders earlier warned that around 15% of their 52,000 workforces could be cut, but best efforts are being done to mitigate the impact of the pandemic to their business.
Among those badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic is the aviation industry, as many flights across the world have been suspended. Company insiders are saying that Rolls-Royce is expected to tell staff the actual number of job losses before the end of this month.
Rolls-Royce is currently among the world’s largest makers of aircraft engines.
