Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, has successfully dispatched its maiden shipment of aircraft seats from its Tanauan City, Batangas, Philippines plant to Airbus. This milestone marks the delivery of the Meridian® main cabin seat, bolstering an airline client’s narrow-body line fit initiative. These seats aim to enhance the passenger experience by offering ergonomic comfort, expanded living space, and ample in-seat storage.
The Tanauan City facility anticipates a threefold increase in seating assembly capacity by the end of 2024. These seats will be delivered to 14 different clients, encompassing various original equipment manufacturer line fits, along with multiple retrofit locations.
“Adding main cabin seating production to our Philippines facility is a critical milestone in the future of Collins’ seating business. The continued growth of our seating operations in the Philippines not only represents new business and additional jobs in the local area but provides crucial proximate seating support for our customers in the Asia Pacific region,” according to Christophe Blanc, Vice-President and General Manager of Aircraft Seating for Collins Aerospace.
Established in 2012, Collins’ Philippines facility not only produces aircraft seats but also manufactures an array of cabin interior components, including galleys, galley inserts, oxygen equipment, and lavatories.
