Singapore Airlines (SIA) is expanding its service to China with daily flights between Singapore and Beijing’s Daxing International Airport (PKX | ZBAD) starting in November 2024. This move comes alongside an increase in frequencies to Beijing Capital International Airport, further strengthening SIA’s presence in the key Chinese market.
Passengers will benefit from increased connectivity between Singapore and Beijing. In addition to the new daily service to Daxing Airport, SIA will raise the number of weekly flights to Beijing Capital International Airport from 18 to 21 starting 05 August 2024. This brings SIA’s total weekly flights to Beijing to 28 by November 2024, offering travelers more flexibility and convenience.
The expansion to Daxing Airport also complements SIA Group’s wider network in mainland China. Together with its low-cost subsidiary Scoot, SIA Group will serve a total of 24 destinations across China, including major cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Chengdu. This comprehensive network caters to both business and leisure travelers seeking connections within China.
SIA will operate its Boeing B787-10 aircraft on the new route to Daxing Airport. This modern plane provides passengers with a comfortable travel experience. The aircraft boasts 36 Business Class seats with ample legroom and privacy, as well as 301 Economy Class seats designed for long-haul journeys.
The inaugural flight SQ810 to Beijing Daxing is scheduled for a smooth departure from Singapore at 0001H on 11 November 2024, arriving in Beijing at 0635H. The return flight SQ811 will depart from Beijing Daxing at 0925H, allowing passengers to arrive back in Singapore at 1550H. These convenient timings cater to both business travelers and leisure tourists.
Strategic Location of Daxing Airport
Located south of Beijing, Daxing International Airport complements the existing Beijing Capital International Airport situated in the northeast of the city. This new Phoenix-shaped airport offers passengers easy access to Beijing, Hebei, and Tianjin regions through a network of highways, subways, and railways. Opened in 2019, Daxing Airport provides a modern and efficient gateway to China’s capital and surrounding areas.
The decision to expand services aligns with the significant increase in air travel demand witnessed in Beijing. According to China Daily, Beijing Capital International Airport saw over one million international and regional passengers for four consecutive months by May 2024, exceeding five million trips. This represents a remarkable 300% growth compared to the same period in 2023.
With the announcement of daily flights to Daxing Airport, SIA is committed to providing travelers with greater connectivity and a seamless travel experience between Singapore and Beijing. Tickets for SIA’s new Beijing Daxing services are now available for purchase through various distribution channels starting from 24 June 2024.
