Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) will resume passenger services to and from Mainland China following the relaxation of local entry restrictions. Beginning March 3, SWISS will offer one weekly non-stop flight between Zurich and Shanghai, with the frequency increasing to three per week starting in April 2023. The flights will be conducted using either a Boeing 777-300ER or an Airbus A340-300.
“We’re delighted that we’ll soon be providing our customers with flights between Zurich and Shanghai again. It’s a high priority for us to meet the demand that is now growing again for travel between these two major business centers and beyond. Shanghai remains one of the key points in our network in terms of both inbound and outbound travelers,” says Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Chief Commercial Officer of SWISS.
In response to travel restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, SWISS suspended its passenger services between Zurich and Shanghai in April 2022. Since then, the airline has only operated cargo-only flights on the route.
Along with restarting its Zurich-Shanghai passenger flights, the airline will also increase its service to and from Hong Kong from five to six weekly frequencies in the 2023 summer schedules.
