SWISS Unveils Plans to Expand Premium Economy Cabin for Upcoming Airbus A350s

In a significant development in its ongoing project to introduce the Airbus A350-900 to its aircraft fleet, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has revealed the final cabin layout, including seat configurations and class specifications. The eagerly anticipated Airbus A350-900s are set to accommodate a total of 242 passengers, with the Premium Economy Class being notably enlarged to meet the escalating demand for premium leisure air travel.

The introduction of the Airbus A350-900 to SWISS’s aircraft fleet, slated for 2025, is gradually taking shape. Switzerland’s largest airline has now concluded the blueprints for the brand-new long-haul twinjets’ passenger cabins, marking another significant milestone in the project’s progression. SWISS has meticulously determined the size of each cabin, along with the arrangement of seats, aisle layouts, restrooms, galleys, and, importantly, the number of seats available in each class of travel. The Airbus A350-900s will introduce the revolutionary ‘SWISS Senses’ cabin concept, designed to provide a more personalized and unique air travel experience for SWISS passengers.

Enlarged Premium Economy Class

The forthcoming SWISS Airbus A350-900 will accommodate a total of 242 passengers, divided into various classes: three in First Class, 45 in Business Class, 38 in Premium Economy Class, and 156 in Economy Class.

A standout feature of the Airbus A350-900 is its notably expanded Premium Economy Class, boasting 38 seats. This enhancement is SWISS’s response to the growing demand for premium air travel experiences, particularly among leisure travelers.

“Through their carefully conceived spatial design, all our seating classes aboard our aircraft will offer our guests a totally new and unparalleled air travel experience from 2025 onwards. With our new cabin concept, we will still remain the only major airline in the world to offer a First Class cabin on all its long-haul aircraft. We will also be increasing the size of our Premium Economy Class, which has proved very popular. And in both these respects, we are further clearly positioning SWISS as Europe’s leading premium airline,” according to Tamur Goudarzi Pour, SWISS Chief Commercial Officer.

Benefiting from the opportunity to specify interior details directly from the factory, SWISS has tailored the Airbus A350-900’s interiors to meet its specific needs.

Cutting-Edge & Eco-Friendly A350

SWISS plans to gradually take delivery of five Airbus A350-900 aircraft starting in 2025. Over the long term, these new long-haul twinjets will replace the airline’s remaining four Airbus A340-300s, delivering superior efficiency and environmental benefits. The Airbus A350-900 is renowned as the most advanced and fuel-efficient long-haul aircraft in its category, emitting approximately 25% fewer carbon dioxide emissions than its predecessor and operating at less than half the noise level. This plane type consumes just around 2.5 liters of fuel per passenger per 100 kilometers on average.

SWISS’s investment in these state-of-the-art aircraft not only reflects its commitment to providing a world-class travel experience but also underscores its dedication to sustainability in the aviation industry.

As SWISS edges closer to the launch of its Airbus A350-900s, travelers can anticipate a new era of premium air travel and a more environmentally conscious aviation future.
