Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Türkiye, continues its commitment to modernizing its fleet with a substantial order for ten (10) additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This latest procurement brings Turkish Airlines’ total A350-900 order to an impressive 40, building on a previously announced order of four (04) A350-900s in August 2023. The airline currently operates a fleet of 14 A350-900s, firmly establishing itself as a key player in the global aviation landscape.
The Airbus A350-900, introduced in 2013, has quickly become a preferred choice among leading airlines worldwide. As of the end of July 2023, it had amassed over 1,000 orders from renowned carriers across the globe, highlighting its status as the most modern and efficient widebody aircraft available. It reigns supreme in the 300-410 seater category, setting industry standards for performance and sustainability.
“We are delighted that Turkish Airlines has decided to further enlarge its fleet with the purchase of 10 more A350-900 aircraft. With greater range capability, passenger capacity and comfort, the A350 is the perfect platform to connect Istanbul to the world. This repeat order demonstrates the confidence for our unique new-generation aircraft that offers airlines unbeatable economics and efficiency. We are proud to keep expanding our long-lasting partnership with Turkish Airlines and Türkiye’s aviation sector overall,” according to Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International.
At the heart of the A350’s appeal is its groundbreaking design, incorporating state-of-the-art technologies, advanced aerodynamics, lightweight materials, and cutting-edge engines. Collectively, these innovations deliver a remarkable 25% advantage in fuel efficiency, operational cost savings, and reduced CO2 emissions compared to previous-generation competitor aircraft. The A350 boasts a 50% reduction in noise footprint, greatly enhancing the passenger experience while addressing environmental concerns.
The significance of Turkish Airlines’ order for ten additional A350-900 aircraft extends beyond the airline industry. It signifies a commitment to enhancing passenger comfort, reducing environmental impact, and keeping pace with the latest aviation advancements. This strategic investment aligns Turkish Airlines with the broader global push for sustainable aviation and innovation, positioning Türkiye as a key player in the ever-evolving aviation sector.
With this latest addition to its fleet, Turkish Airlines not only reinforces its position as a leading global carrier but also takes a significant step toward a greener and more efficient future for air travel. As the world continues to prioritize sustainability and technological progress, Turkish Airlines is well-prepared to meet the evolving needs of its passengers and contribute to a more eco-friendly aviation landscape.
