Turkish Airlines has announced the purchase of four additional Boeing B777 Freighters, bolstering its position in the global air cargo market. This order, revealed today, will expand Turkish Airlines’ fleet to a total of 12 Boeing B777 Freighters.
“This new investment in expanding our cargo fleet underscores our commitment to meeting the growing global demand for air freight services. The addition of these Boeing 777 Freighters will not only enhance our operational capabilities but also serve as another step in our strategic vision to reach the top of the air cargo sector worldwide while maintaining our leading position with our unparalleled service and efficiency for our customers across the globe,” according to Ali Türk, Turkish Airlines Chief Cargo Officer, emphasizing the strategic significance of this investment.
The acquisition comes at a crucial time as demand for air freight services surges, driven by the rapid growth of e-commerce and the increasing need for efficient and reliable global transportation. The new freighters will enable Turkish Airlines to optimize cargo operations, reduce costs, and ensure timely delivery of goods to destinations worldwide.
Paul Righi, Vice President of Boeing Commercial Sales for Eurasia, expressed pride in continuing the long-standing partnership with Turkish Airlines. “The 777 Freighter’s payload capacity, range, and flexibility will enable Turkish Airlines to deliver exceptional customer service while maximizing operational efficiency,” Righi said.
The Boeing B777 Freighter stands out as the world’s most capable twin-engine freighter, boasting a maximum payload capacity of 102 metric tons (112 tons) and a range of 9,200 kilometers (4,970 nautical miles). With over 265 deliveries, it is Boeing’s best-selling freighter airplane, contributing significantly to Boeing’s dominance in the cargo airplane market, where it supplies more than 90% of the worldwide dedicated freighter capacity.
In addition to freighters, Turkish Airlines operates a diverse fleet of Boeing aircraft, including the B777-300ER, Next-Generation B737, B737 MAX, and B787 Dreamliner.
