Turkish Airlines has placed its largest-ever widebody order with Boeing, securing up to 75 next-generation B787 Dreamliners while also committing to expand its fleet of B737 MAX aircraft. The landmark deal is set to double the flag carrier’s Boeing fleet, significantly boosting its capacity, fuel efficiency, and global network expansion plans.
The new order includes 35 Boeing B787-9 aircraft, 15 of the larger B787-10 variant, and purchase options for 25 additional Dreamliners. Once delivered, these aircraft will enhance Turkish Airlines’ long-haul operations, providing both increased passenger comfort and greater cargo capacity. The order will also support more than 123,000 jobs across the United States, highlighting the global economic footprint of the deal.
In addition to the Dreamliner purchase, Turkish Airlines has signaled its intent to buy up to 150 more Boeing B737 MAX jets, which would become the largest single-aisle aircraft order in the carrier’s history once finalized. Together, these commitments position the airline to further strengthen its role as one of the world’s leading network carriers.
Currently operating a fleet of over 200 Boeing jets, including the B787-9 Dreamliner, B777, B737 MAX, Next-Generation B737, and B777 Freighter, Turkish Airlines is already one of Boeing’s most significant global partners. The addition of the B787-10 model will be particularly beneficial for high-demand routes connecting Istanbul to key destinations across the United States, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
The Boeing B787-10 offers a range of passenger-friendly features such as larger windows, improved air quality, and a lower cabin altitude, designed to reduce fatigue and enhance the overall travel experience. It also incorporates advanced technology to minimize turbulence, ensuring smoother journeys. Combined with its fuel efficiency, the aircraft is expected to play a vital role in Turkish Airlines’ sustainability and growth strategies.
The deal also aligns with the airline’s 2033 Vision, which targets an ambitious expansion of its fleet to 800 aircraft within the next decade. This long-term strategy underlines Turkish Airlines’ commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and its position as a global aviation leader.
