United Airlines Unveils Historic International Expansion with New Destinations for 2025

United Airlines has announced its largest international expansion in the company’s history, unveiling eight new destinations set to launch in 2025. This expansion solidifies United’s status as the U.S. airline with the most flights across the Atlantic and Pacific. Starting in May, United will introduce five new nonstop routes from its Newark/New York hub to unique destinations, including Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; Madeira Island, Portugal; and Faro, Portugal — destinations that no other U.S. carrier currently serves.

In addition, United will debut three new nonstop routes from Washington D.C./Dulles, featuring the airline’s first-ever flight to Dakar, Senegal, operating year-round, and new seasonal nonstop flights to Nice, France, and Venice, Italy.

This major transatlantic schedule will feature over 760 weekly flights, the most in the airline’s history, and offer earlier start dates for service to popular destinations such as Venice, Athens, and Barcelona. United will also increase its direct flights from Newark to Palma de Mallorca, Dubrovnik, and Athens, enhancing options for travelers seeking more flexibility.

On the transpacific front, United will offer new routes from Tokyo-Narita to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, as well as a new nonstop flight to Koror, Palau. These flights will seamlessly connect passengers through Tokyo to five hub locations in the U.S.

United’s new routes also include the airline’s first-ever service to Nuuk, Greenland, and Palermo, Italy, both of which will offer travelers unique experiences in untouched Arctic landscapes and historic Mediterranean cities. United’s presence in Spain and Portugal will also expand with new services to Bilbao, Faro, and Madeira Island.

Scheduled for summer 2025, these additions will bring United’s total international flights to 800 daily, covering 147 destinations, including 40 cities that no other U.S. carrier flies to. This unprecedented expansion further cements United’s role as a leader in global travel experiences.

All flights are subject to government approval and will be available for booking on United’s website and app.
