Vietjet (VJ) has once again earned global recognition after being named one of the World’s Safest Airlines for 2026 by AirlineRatings, a leading international airline safety and product rating platform. The Vietnamese low-cost carrier has also consistently maintained a perfect 7/7 safety rating from AirlineRatings since 2018, highlighting its long-term commitment to the highest standards of aviation safety.
The latest recognition places Vietjet alongside the world’s top low-cost carriers that have demonstrated sustained excellence in operational safety over many consecutive years. AirlineRatings’ annual assessment highlights airlines that not only meet regulatory requirements but also go beyond compliance through strong safety cultures, modern fleets, and robust training and operational systems.
For Filipino travelers, the distinction carries particular relevance as Vietjet continues to expand its footprint in the Philippine market. The airline recently launched a direct service between Manila (MNL) and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), offering daily flights that provide a new, affordable gateway between the Philippines and Vietnam. Independent safety rankings such as those from AirlineRatings serve as an important benchmark for travelers evaluating international carriers, especially as more Filipinos explore regional destinations across Southeast Asia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
AirlineRatings’ leadership noted that Vietjet has managed steady growth while maintaining fleet continuity and high operational reliability. The airline operates one of the youngest fleets in the region and has maintained a flawless safety record across two decades of operations. This performance also reflects positively on Vietnam’s aviation sector, which has been achieving its strongest results to date in International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audits covering safe, secure, and efficient international air transport.
The AirlineRatings evaluation process covers more than 320 airlines worldwide and is based on a comprehensive set of criteria. These include incident and accident records, fleet age, pilot training standards, and the results of international safety audits. For 2026, the assessment also placed greater emphasis on turbulence prevention, alongside other key industry indicators that affect passenger safety and comfort.
Vietjet currently operates a modern and fuel-efficient fleet, achieving a technical reliability rate of 99.72 percent, one of the highest in the region. The airline holds the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification, as well as ISAGO certification for ground operations safety. In addition, Vietjet actively participates in International Air Transport Association (IATA) safety enhancement programs and continues to invest heavily in pilot training, aircraft maintenance, and engineering capabilities to support world-class safety performance.
Further strengthening its operational capacity, Vietjet recently added 22 aircraft within a single month, marking the largest fleet expansion in the airline’s history. This significant addition enhances both operational efficiency and network resilience, while reinforcing the carrier’s focus on operating modern, fuel-efficient aircraft.
