Federal Express Corporation (FedEx | FX), one of the largest express transportation companies in the world, has officially expanded its operational reach in the central Philippines by inaugurating a brand-new World Service Center in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. This tactical infrastructure development aims to reinforce the logistics titan’s distribution network across the Visayas region while offering robust, streamlined support for commercial enterprises involved in global trade.

The newly launched service hub is situated at Unit 3 on the second floor of the Ground-Air Logistics Corporation (GALCO) Complex. Nestled inside the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Cargo Complex, the facility enjoys prime positioning right next door to the Bureau of Customs Cebu office. This spatial advantage allows the logistics provider to significantly expedite customs clearance operations and reduce administrative bottlenecks for international freight processing.

Designed to provide end-to-end logistics assistance, the World Service Center houses dedicated on-site clearance processors ready to assist commercial clients and individual shippers with documentation standards and regulatory inquiries. The facility functions as a central drop-off gateway for export shipments, offering enhanced flexibility for local traders who prefer direct drop-offs over scheduled courier pickups.

Emphasizing the strategic timing of the expansion, FedEx Philippines Managing Director Maribeth Espinosa highlighted that Cebu continues to cement its role as a power hub for manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and regional trade. She stated that FedEx is dedicated to investing in infrastructure that connects regional businesses directly to worldwide trade routes. According to Espinosa, bringing physical facilities closer to the customer base makes global shipping vastly more accessible and efficient, ensuring that both established exporters and burgeoning small-to-medium enterprises possess the tools necessary to scale past domestic borders.

This facility integration directly enhances FedEx’s existing air cargo network operating out of Mactan-Cebu International Airport. The current flight schedule features six weekly inbound flights operating from Sunday to Friday, accompanied by five weekly outbound flights operating from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday. By combining specialized ground services with scheduled air freighter connectivity, FedEx allows regional enterprises across Cebu and surrounding island provinces to tap into more than 220 international countries and territories seamlessly.

As cross-border e-commerce momentum continues to build across Southeast Asia, the opening of the Cebu World Service Center underlines the parcel giant’s long-term commitment to upgrading logistics infrastructure in key growth corridors throughout the Philippine archipelago.
